Steve Vargo, OD, MBA practiced optometry for 15 years prior to joining Prima Eye Group as Vice President of Optometric Consulting. He is also founder and CEO of OD Success magazine. Dr. Vargo’s interest in technology and marketing led to the creation of iMobile Communications, a web-based system dedicated to marketing the eye care practice through email, text and social media. Dr. John Scibal is the owner of Scibal Consulting, a company this is focused in both the Optometry Business Appraising and Optometry Management Consulting fields. Dr. Scibal is fully certified by the Institute of Business Appraisers (CBA). While working as a practicing optometrist for twenty-five years, Dr. Scibal developed one of the largest and most successful independent optometric practices in North Carolina. A veteran lecturer throughout the U.S., Dr. Scibal is also a prolific author who has written extensively on a wide-range of practice management topics.
Thirty four years ago, Dr. Don Teig pioneered work in Sports Vision and Visual-Motor Performance Training with Major League Baseball. Subsequently, Dr. Teig and his associates would have the opportunity to work with ten major league baseball clubs, the men and women’s pro golf and tennis tours, several NBA basketball clubs, many Olympic teams, teams in professional football and hockey, as well as the dancers in the Joffrey Ballet. His patient files are a virtual Who’s Who in the sports, entertainment, business and political arenas.
He is the Founder and President of Ultimate Events & Entertainment, LLC, a Florida based company where he serves as the Executive Director of “The A Team – High Performance Vision Associates”. A national group of sports trained eye care professionals have joined forces in this group to participate in projects, individual practice growth and research directed to providing High Performance Vision to people who participate in visually demanding sports, hobbies and careers
He is the past chairman of the Sports Vision Section of the American Optometric Association where he received Sports Vision Specialist of the Year honors.
Currently, Dr. Teig is writing a consumer based book on the subject of vision and sports entitled, “High performance Vision – An Athlete’s Guide To Keeping Your Eyes On The Ball!” to be published this fall by Square One Publishers, Garden City, New York.
Dr. Riley Uglum is a 38-year veteran of the optometry profession and is President of Eye Care Associates Of New Hampton. He is also the founder and CEO of Promethean Ventures, a company whose mission is to help private practice health care practitioners prosper by combining systemic health care strategies with time tested wealth creation tools.
He has co-authored a book titled The E-Myth Optometrist with Michael E. Gerber, and is a Michael E. Gerber Partners’ Company author and founding partner. Dr. Uglum is also executive director of the National Wellness Alliance.

Laurie Capogna, O.D., is in private practice in Niagara Falls, Ontario, where she provides full spectrum optometric care and low vision in a surgical eye care center. Dr. Capogna is the co-author of two books, Eyefoods: A Food Plan for Healthy Eyes and Eyefoods for Kids: A Tasty Guide to Nutrition and Eye Health. She has also written numerous articles and regularly speaks on the topic of nutrition and ocular health. She is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists, the Canadian Association of Optometrists, the College of Optometrists of Ontario and the Ocular Nutrition Society.
Dr. Barbara Pelletier practices optometry at IRIS in Welland, Ontario. She has extensive experience in preop and post op care for refractive surgery and cataract surgery patients. She is the co-author of Eyefoods : A Food Plan for Healthy Eyes and a newly launched children’s book, Eyefoods for Kids : A Tasty Guide to Nutrition and Eye Health. She has a passion for photography and took some of the pictures in each book. She lectures on the subject of nutrition and eye health and contributes articles to magazines regularly.

Dr. Alan Glazier is the owner and founder of Shady Grove Eye & Vision Care in Rockville, MD, a large medical model 4 doctor optometry practice. Dr. Glazier holds a B.S. from the University of Maryland and a Doctorate from the New England College of Optometry. Thomas Lecoq worked more than 10 years as a newspaper business writer/editor and as a public relations professional. In early 1982, he became Communications Director for Optometric Extension Program Foundation where he wrote many of the brochures about VT that are still being published today. He also did public relations for OEP to get the word out about vision therapy. He has written about and lectured for OEP, COVD, Optometric Management and the Journal of the AOA on practice development. and represents orthokeratology in the world. IAO is a truly global organization which includes continental sections as America, Asia, Europe, Latino America and Oceania. It represents the interests and serves the needs of orthokeratologists worldwide. The IAO was founded in 2011 by eyecare professionals from America,Europe and Asia at Vision By Design in Orlando Florida.
The American Academy of Orthokeratology & Myopia Control (AAOMC), formerly known as the Orthokeratology Academy of America(OAA), strives to present an open forum allowing our members to learn and interact with other members, and find a safe environment absent of the interests or agendas of any one person, group or company. Our roots go back to the very beginnings of Orthokeratology and as such our board and membership not only represent the pioneers of Ortho-k but also those dedicated to pushing this field to new heights. The AAOMC, through our workshops, courses and fellowship program, allows our members to grow in competence and demonstrate this ability to their peers and the public. Through our innovations, the AAOMC forwards the science of Orthokeratology.
